Annual Celebration Day Draws Record Crowd
Sunny weather set the stage for TVN's annual Celebration Day events on Boys' Village Campus. Over 400 staff, friends and supporters commemorated the Sanford "Stoney" Stonebraker greenhouse, participated in the youth art auction and enjoyed keynote speaker Bob Danzig, past senior corporate executive of The Hearst Newspaper Group and former foster child.
Mr. Danzig spoke about his experience as a former foster child. He was inspired to succeed by the people he met along the way including the social worker who told him, "You are worthwhile."
The Village Network Receives Ohio's First Sexual Offender Certification
TVN has worked with sexually reactive adolescents and juvenile sex offenders for over 20 years. The Village Network Sexually Reactive & Juvenile Sex Offender programs are the first to be certified by the Ohio Department of Youth Services (ODYS). Click here to read more. TVN offers these programs through residential, day treatment and treatment foster care. A Day Treatment program is also available at the Columbus location.
Congressman John Boccieri Visits Boys' Village Campus
Congressman John Boccieri (D-Alliance) got his first look at the services provided by The Village Network when he visited Boys' Village Campus in Wooster. He listened to personal stories told by the youth before touring the on-campus school, a residential cottage and the campus chapel.
Staff and board members described to Congressman Boccieri how TVN programs focus on offenders rather than victims. Executive Director Jim Miller explained 98.5 percent of youthful offenders have experienced some sort of major trauma.
Before leaving the campus, Boccieri held a question and answer session for foster parents, local corporation presidents and community leaders. He answered questions and talked about what he had learned from the visit. One of his take-home messages was not to give up on at-risk youth.
Growing the Garden Therapy Program

A simple structure rising from the ground on the Wooster Campus is causing a lot of buzz. The garden therapy program will grow into a year-round horticulture opportunity for the youth on the Boys' Village Campus. The greenhouse will serve as a working lab to teach job skills in addition to its therapeutic opportunity. The structure is the result of several grants and community involvement. Updates on the greenhouse and the garden therapy program will be posted to our website and TVN's Facebook page. Don't miss them! Login or join Facebook and become a "fan" of the TVN page today!
