Mayor Proclaims Buckeye Container Day in Wooster
Friday, Nov. 13, 2009 was officially declared Buckeye Container Day in the City of Wooster by Mayor Bob Breneman. The local employee-owned company was selected for the Small Business Leadership Award by North Central Ohio Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). Terry Shea (left), Jon McGurk, Bob Butterfield, Jim Miller and Bob Breneman were among the 350 guests at the AFP annual awards luncheon. The Village Network nominated the company in appreciation of 27 years of support to the agency. Buckeye Container was the first official corporate sponsor for the agency. The company also supports many other nonprofit agencies in Wayne County. Buckeye Container has been a part of Wooster for more than 50 years and employs over 100 people. The company's culture of philanthropy includes assigning a percentage of sales for charitable donations and encouraging employees to volunteer.
