Services – Treatment Foster Care
The Village Network’s Treatment Foster Care programs are developed as local programs addressing the special needs of the communities they serve. Our Treatment Foster Care networks serve a wide variety of troubled youth, both boys and girls of all ages. Individual counseling and family therapy for the youth’s primary family are included in all treatment plans. The Village Network also has the capacity to utilize many Village and community resources to develop extensive “wrap-around” plans, including Day Treatment for youth with significant special needs. Masters-level therapists, case managers, psychologists and psychiatrists are part of the individualized treatment plans of each youth to ensure high-quality care. Treatment Foster Care is available in the Akron, Canton, Cleveland, Columbus, Delaware, Mt. Vernon, Newcomerstown, Newark, Sandusky and Wooster Networks.
Each network consists of a foster-care advocates group, full-time network staff and group of carefully selected mental health professionals. Successful treatment depends greatly upon matching the youth with the resources of both the foster home and mental health professionals to create individualized treatment plans. There are 10 to 20 licensed foster homes in each network. The networks average two youth per foster home.
Respite Care is a hallmark of The Village Network’s Treatment Foster Care program. Families faced with the challenging job of caring for troubled youth often find it difficult to access quality resources to assist with day-to-day care. Respite Care is a planned intervention. Trained foster families work with the youth’s family and other care providers to develop and implement a plan for the youth and the family, foster and other. Respite Care is available at all The Village Network locations.
The Village Network foster parents are carefully selected and rigorously trained. Detailed background checks, finger printing, references, home inspections and consistent monitoring are just some of ways The Village Network works to license quality providers. Foster parents received 70 hours of training prior to becoming licensed and continue to receive 24 hours annually in mental health and behavior childcare. Parents attend weekly training and treatment meetings with other foster families to discuss the unique needs of their youth and to receive support from other foster parents and network staff.
