Programming for Sexually Reactive Youth and Juvenile Sex Offenders
A treatment specialty of The Village Network is providing programming for sexually reactive youth and juvenile sex offenders. We believe that, by effectively treating the dysfunctional behavior as a youth at the first opportunity, the incidence of child sexual abuse can be significantly reduced and the suffering of many children prevented. The continuum of services provided The Village Network includes:
Residential Treatment Wooster Boys’ Village Campus Responsible Living Program
Responsible Living Program
The program is housed at the Wooster Network. This staff-secured, highly structured program is designed to serve sexually dysfunctional youth that have had little or no prior treatment, have been adjudicated for a sexual offense, are male and between the ages of 12 and 18, and have an IQ of at least 80.
Clients reside in the Knapp and Stark residential cottages. Over 24 hours of planned group activities take place each week, with full participation in the all-day Boys’ Village Campus School required. Individual and family therapy are also part of the regimen. Therapeutic recreation (which includes art and recreation), aftercare planning and community follow-up are included in the step-down process.
Short-Term Responsible Living Program
This program specializes in shorter-term sexually reactive behavioral treatment, usually 4-6 months. The program is ideal for, but not limited to, those who are not successful in out-patient treatment, stepping-down from a more restrictive or institutionalized setting, in need of intense intervention to help prevent future criminal behavior, or in need of risk assessment because treatment level is in question.
The Short-term Responsible Living Program is housed at the Wooster Network in the Smucker residential cottage. Over 24 hours of planned group activities take place each week, with full participation in the all-day Boys’ Village Campus School is required. Individual and family therapy are also part of the regimen. Therapeutic recreation (which includes art and recreation), aftercare planning and community follow-up are included in the step-down process.
Responsible Living Day Treatment Program
The Responsible Living Day Treatment Program is structured from the same principles of the residential Responsible Living Program. Responsible Living Day Treatment is available at the Wooster, Cleveland and Columbus networks. It is a very successful step-down from residential treatment, as well as an appropriate initial program if the level of risk allows for community contact.
Columbus Responsible Living Day Treatment Program
The program includes over 20 hours of planned group treatment each week, full participation in Boys’ Village School or tutoring in other Network locations, individual and family therapy, art and recreational therapy, transportation to and from the program, planning and coordination with probation officer (if applicable) to ensure supervision and community safety, and aftercare planning and community follow-up.
